ACT FIVE

EXT. CIVIL WAR CAMP – 1863 DAY
In the Union campsite, in the middle of the woods, many white tents are set up. Soldiers marches away from the camp, while injured ones lie on cots, suffering. One soldier wraps another soldier’s wound. Eleanor walks over the soldiers.

ELEANOR
Excuse me, sir.

The Union soldier stands and wipes blood off his hands as he turns to face her.

UNION SOLDIER #2
I am sorry to tell you this, but if
your husband was part of this
regiment, he is most likely dead or
dying. We have not fared well in
battle today.

ELEANOR
I am looking for a child. His name
is Daniel Graham. Have you seen
him?

The soldier points toward the army of soldiers who were marching away.

UNION SOLDIER #2
He just left with that company. He is carrying our drum.

ELEANOR
Thank you.

Derek walks behind Eleanor, grabs her by the arm, and points a gun at the soldier.

DEREK
You are so predictable, Eleanor.
Tell me… Where are the others?

ELEANOR
I came alone.

DEREK
Paul let you come outside to play all by yourself? He is not very wise for a leader.

ELEANOR
He is a wiser leader than you could
ever be.
