INT. TANGUY’S HOME – NIGHT

Tanguy sits on a couch in a small living room, sketching a picture of bird in a tree. When a KNOCK-KNOCK comes at the door. He quickly places the paper and pencil under his coffee table in front of him.

TANGUY

Enter!

Oisin enters, with papers in hand.

OISIN
Good evening, sir.

TANGUY
I am just starting to relax. What is wrong now?

OISIN
The king instructed me to give you this list of the new recruits and the new requirements they must pass before becoming warriors.

Tanguy snatches the papers out of the Oisin’s hand and peruses it.

TANGUY
These requirements are a little extreme for warriors in training. Why is King Lir interfering with my training methods? He has never done this before!

OISIN
There is…more. Look carefully at the list of new recruits.

TANGUY
(Reads the list of recruits.)
What!? This can’t be right. Why is Princess Palila on this list?

OISIN
Because she wishes to be a warrior, sir.

TANGUY
What a coward Lir is. Instead of rejecting her request, that fool is setting his own flesh and blood up to fail!

OISIN
I know the other recruits will not be happy with these changes either. We might lose some before training.

Tanguy tosses the lists on his coffee table.

TANGUY
It is a good thing we have a few days to prepare. Now, if you don’t mind, it has been a long day, and I would like to get some rest.

OISIN
Would you like me to inform Aella?

TANGUY
No, she will not take this news lightly. Thank you.

OISIN
Yes, of course. Goodnight, General.

Oisin gives a respectful nod and exits.

TANGUY
What is he trying to prove?

He angrily smacks the coffee table, then picks it up and tosses it across the room, then stares at his sketch as it wafts to the floor.
